Homeopathy

Homeopathy is most likely known as the “little white pills”, which can be purchased over the counter at many natural stores. What exactly they are and how to use them efficiently is less well known.

Homeopathic remedies are prepared in a unique way. The natural substances used to make them are highly dilluted and potentized. But even more important than the preparation is how a practitioner decides which remedy to choose for each client.
In common home use, you may know to reach for Arnica to treat a bump or bruise and Apis for a bee or wasp sting. However, this way of using homeopathic remedies (“this for that”) is not really how homeopathy is meant to be practiced.

The constellation of symptoms that you feel when your body becomes ill is very individual to you. It is not exactly the same as what another person feels, even if they have been given the same diagnosis. A large part of a homeopaths work is to find out in which manner your symptoms are unique to you to be able to find a remedy that is going to be most most helpful for you.

The basic principle of homeopathic treatment is "like cures like". A remedy that can cause a particular symptom in a healthy person, can remove the same or similar symptoms in a sick person. But above all, a well-chosen remedy will stimulate the body's life force to bring itself back into balance. It’s not just to remove a symptom or two, but to strengthen the whole organism.

I could fill numerous pages with the details of homeopathic philosophy and its application but many authors (as well as podcasters and even filmmakers) have already done this before me. “A healthy life force [...] rules with unbounded sway, and retains all the parts of the organism in admirable, harmonious, vital operation. [...] So that you can freely employ your [body] for the higher purposes of your existence.”
— Samuel Hahnemann "Organon of the Healing Art"
